This week at Hackney Community College the students passed a key milestone, finishing off their final designs.
The main tasks for this week’s workshop started off with the students finishing their final designs, taking into account their moodboards and what they learned during the design workshops they attended last week.
Fabrics were also a fundamental part of week 4’s workshop – the cohort were split up into small groups and given a range of fabrics to identify and learn about. Understanding fabric structure, type and fibre will really help them as they embark on their future fashion endeavours.
The session concluded with a pattern cutting class, building on from the introductory session in week 2.
We’re really excited with how the designs are coming together! The group have now been split up into smaller sections based on the garments they’ve designed, and our volunteers have been designated groups according to their specialisms.
This week it’s half term, so the young people will be getting the Saturday off! To make up for this, some of the students came for an optional print workshop on Monday.
