In the sixth workshop of the Fashion Futures programme, students completed their paper patterns, and started work on their toiles.

After finalising their pattern amendments and adding seam allowances, students began the time-consuming process of laying out their pattern pieces on calico, cutting them out accurately and transferring their pattern markings.

Their next challenge will be to piece the calico pieces together and sew them together using industrial machines.

This week’s homework task, a fashion illustration, is inspired by Vogue Italia’s recent illustration issue, which eschewed expensive and polluting photoshoots, and instead used illustrations by new and emerging artists to tell the story of fashion.
