Fashion Workshops for Young People
Salford
27th June to 1st July 2005
Salford Aimhigher, Salford University and Fashion Awareness
Direct will be running a series of workshops for year 10
students at schools in the area of Salford. The workshops
will cover the whole process of fashion design from initial
research through to completed product. Workshops will include
visual research as inspiration, design development, printed
textiles and draping on the stand. Students will learn how
to construct their design, including an accessory, which
will then be styled and displayed in the final day catwalk
show at the buile Hill Banqueting Suite. Students will also
have the opportunity to meet different professionals involved
in the Fashion Industry such as designers, stylists and
hair & make up artists.
At
the end of the course participants will have built a complete
portfolio reflecting the work created during the course:
mood boards, drawings, illustrations, photography and the
constructed garment. Guidance on how to transfer these skills
to application for entry into higher education including
Art and Fashion colleges will also be given.
The
workshops are ideal for students from a diverse range of
backgrounds and cultures seeking to find out more about
the courses at fashion colleges and fashion careers in the
UK.
The course is funded by Salford Aimhigher.
