Last week FAD ventured North to clean, green Hampstead Heath to give year 9 students of Parliament Hill School a taster of what it’s like to work in fashion.
We kicked started the session with an introduction about the fashion industry and different tasks that fashion designers complete on a day-to-day basis.
We wanted the students to get a real sense of what it would feel like working in fashion. Picking a selection of rainbow summer fabrics and pick ‘n’ mix trimmings generously donated by our friends at River Island and Topshop, the creative bunch designed and produced a summer skirt in just one day! With the support of our amazing volunteers Clara, Rahima, Nell and Philip the students developed their pattern cutting and sewing skills, learning new techniques and methods of construction.
