THE JURY "The work that goes on behind the scenes for the FAD competition is phenomenal - both in terms of the students' entries and the support that FAD provides. I'm really looking forward to joining the judges but, considering past winners' achievements, I know we're going to have a difficult time picking just one winner and two runners-up" - Dolly Jones, VOGUE.COM Editor (Quoted from Vogue.com, 9th February 2009) The FAD Competition jury day took place on 12th February 2009 at the FAD offices in East London. All fourteen finalists worked hard to meet the deadline, submitting two finished outfits, a sketchbook and design boards for the scrutiny of this year’s industry panel.
The jury consisted of the following fashion experts and space specialists: Dolly Jones, Editor of Vogue.com Chair: Anthea Godfrey
In order to make the jury process as objective as possible, each anonymous entry was given a number from 1 to 14. The name of the student and their respective universities were not revealed to the jury until after the winners had been finalised. It was a long afternoon as the jury panel deliberated over the high standard of the entrants, struggling to select just three winners. Working to the criteria of the brief, each entrant was marked out of 10 for elements such as research, textiles development and quality of construction. Find out who was awarded the winner and two runner up prizes by visiting the 2009 FAD Competition winner pages.
FAD would like to thank the jury for donating their time and knowledge to the 2009 FAD Competition and our young volunteers - models, dressers, make-up and hair - who took part in the jury day. |
