The winner of the 2002 FAD graduate fashion competition takes a new look at urban vintage

Tracey Bartlett from the University of East London has won the 2002 FAD Graduate Fashion Competition. Taking inspiration from the New Look, Tracey�s designs combine modern fabrics with vintage detailing to meet the competition�s brief: Urban Vintage. Tracey won
almost unanimous approval from the judges, despite stiff competition from 14 other finalists short-listed from students at UK fashion colleges and universities.

She wins the first prize of �2,000 and a coveted work placement with designer Elspeth Gibson.

The judges, which consisted of designers Elspeth Gibson and Russell Sage, Claire Loewe from FAD, Louise de Caires, Fashion Artist, Joyce Thornton from WGSN, and Eyuuki Iyamamoto, last year�s winner, also selected two runners-up.

First runner-up went to Katia Anna Camps-Campins from Central St Martins and second runner-up went to Camilla Jessen also from Central St Martins. Both win �1,000 and work placements with designers Russell Sage and Shelley Fox.

All fifteen short-listed entries will be shown at a fashion installation and exhibition that takes place on Tuesday, 12th March beginning at 7 pm at the French Institute, 17 Queensberry Place, South Kensington, London. The winners will then be officially announced and prizes presented by H.E. the French Ambassador.
