Leadership

The FAD Leadership Academy brings together young people from different backgrounds; equipping them with the skills and confidence to run projects that will benefit the wider community.

FAD supports young leaders with a series of professional masterclasses, workshops and mentoring. As a team they identify groups they would like to support, before planning and managing their own community led event, project or campaign.

Since the project began in 2012, the Leadership Academy have organised textiles workshops in local schools; mask making with primary school children; printing campaign t-shirts with young care leavers and running fashion workshops for girls at estate based youth clubs.  Last year the FAD Leadership Academy also launched their first social media campaign #iwishidknownthat, supporting teenage girls who struggle with confidence and self esteem.

Taking part in the FAD Leadership Academy enables young people to gain new skills, build self confidence and broaden the knowledge which will support them in their future careers.

The focus on community, enables young people to step away from their own problems and feel a real sense of achievement by doing something positive for others.
