Having spent the last five days working hard on a corset-style top and wide leg trousers inspired by a painting she saw at the V&A museum, Eliza Spencer is gearing up for FAD’s catwalk show this September.
‘My confidence has definitely grown,’ she says, talking about her experience with FAD so far. ‘Especially with talking to people and learning all the new words to do with fashion, as well as working with the industrial machines. It’s all improved!’
As a designer, Eliza is passionate about both drama and fashion and, in the future, wants to combine the two through costume design for theatre.
‘The fashion industry is obviously really challenging and you have to get stuff done on time,’ she continues. ‘It’s strict in that way but I like how you can do whatever you want. You can start from scratch and just create something.
‘I want to show people that they can wear whatever, and no-one will judge them for it.’
