A huge thank you to all of you who Voted FAD and shared our campaign last November. We’re delighted to have been selected as one of the beneficiaries of NatWest’s Skills and Opportunities Fund, and over the moon to be awarded a cheque for £35,000 to fund Fashion Futures 2019.
The NatWest Skills & Opportunities Fund supports local not-for-profits with community minded projects. Rachel Blackamore, Managing Director of Personal Banking in the London and South East Region, and Chair of the selection committee, said:
“FAD is making such a difference to people who wouldn’t always or normally get the opportunity get access to the fashion world. To see so many people of colour and different abilities is fantastic, and it stood out for me.
We know local organisations are already really effective in driving positive change in their communities, so the ethos of the fund is removing the financial barriers that might otherwise have hindered those plans. The latest and final funding award takes the total issued by NatWest to London and South East organisations over the last four years to almost £2.5 million.”
Phil Northey, Managing Director, Premier Banking, said: “I chose to partner with FAD as I really liked their project and I am attracted to supporting the creative industries where we in London have such a tremendous and unique position of having the strengths of both our heritage and a freshness that comes from a combination of youth and a willingness and passion to be edgy.
I’m delighted to see FAD begin to ‘complete the circle’ by establishing the online store that will both promote the alumni students’ personal brands, showcase their case and, importantly, provide a commercial platform for their work. Most creative fashion needs to, I feel, be translated to an end product that is purchased, worn and enjoyed by many people and embraces, for example, the diversity of cultures, living and working environments, budgets and the wonder that we come in many colours, shapes and sizes!”
In addition to their financial support, we are delighted to have the practical support of RBS group volunteers in communications, photography and pastoral support in the Fashion Futures workshops.
