Last night saw the official launch of the FAD Leadership Academy Programme at the Africa Centre in Covent Garden.
Three founding members of the Leadership Academy, Angela Fusco, Karmen-Marie Parker and Phillip Luu gave an opening speech about the opportunities the leadership academy will bring to young people in London and their ideas and hopes for the programme.
FAD were also very pleased to have Jenny Field representing sponsors, The City Bridge Trust, at the launch to talk about their support of the programme.
The FAD Leadership Academy, which will run for three years, aims to get young people from different cultural and social backgrounds working together in projects that will benefit the wider community.
The first cohort of youth leaders will embark on a programme of masterclasses, workshops and hands-on training from October 2012 – July 2013. Through the FAD leadership programme they will gain the skills needed to later develop and deliver their own FAD initiatives and community-led events.
The hope is that the FAD Leadership Academy will bring young leaders of all backgrounds together with a shared aim to increasing learning, citizenship, employability and volunteering for young people across London. The young leaders involved will benefit from the support and mentoring of industry professionals and leadership experts.
Look out for regular updates from our young leaders starting next month. For more information or to apply to be part of the Leadership Academy please email email@example.com.
