FAD Fashion Futures 1 (FF1) is an intensive, week-long workshop, which gives Year 10 students (aged 14 - 15) an introduction to the A - Z of fashion - from initial research and design through garment construction to a photo shoot and fashion show.

This specialist FAD course aims to give students practical, vocational skills, to help them gain a realistic view of the range of careers available in fashion, to support them in future academic choices and to foster personal development.

During each FF1, 50 students from schools across their borough meet to attend their course at one of FAD's partner colleges or universities. The workshops are lead by our specialist tutors, all of whom have extensive industry experience and supported by a team of university student mentors.

The course fosters participant's creativity and boosts their confidence as well as promoting key qualities such as self-motivation, teamwork and pride in their work.

Since July 2006, FAD Fashion Futures 1 has been accredited by the Open Colleges Network through Newham College, and is now a New CAD unit "Fashion Design Process Level 1".
