Our twenty talented Fashion Futures finalists took over UEL’s fashion department this July for the fifteenth Fashion Futures Summer School.
Their task was to transform the toiles they’d completed at FAD’s Saturday workshops into runway-ready looks for the Fashion Futures Final at London Fashion Week in September 2019.
For 2019, they are exploring the brief HumaNature, considering issues of sustainability and humans’ relationship with the natural world.
The teenage designers’ concepts include zero-waste, using pre-and post-consumer waste, biodegradable materials, upcycling and the exploration of natural forms.
With the pressure on, the designers really rose to the challenge of using industrial machinery and mastering professional production techniques.
We can’t want top reveal their final designs in September – keep an eye on our Instagram feed from 24thAugust for the fashion show countdown and some sneaky peaks of the collection.
Thank you to the volunteers from Asos, UEL and FAD volunteer network who supported the finalists throughout the week.
