“The inspiration for my garment came from Montaña Vinicunca in Peru. The mountain holds colours of blues, pinks, yellows, and oranges, which you usually wouldn’t see in nature. My thoughts behind it was that when you take away the everything on earth, the cities, the forests, the ocean, you are left with the raw dirt materials. This is when you find the beauty in the earth just like the coloured mountains in Peru. I showed this in my garment by colouring half the whole tracksuit in the same colours from the mountains and leaving the other side the same colour as the earth.
I wanted to add my own style to the garment – I wear a lot of tracksuits casually for comfort and style. I over exaggerated the oversized trend and made it so that the arms to the jacket were extremely long as well as the collar. I have added three pockets that pop out and added a netting over it giving the jacket a more detailed finish.
It’s such a big thing to be at London Fashion Week. That’s such a big thing to start with. For someone that’s just got into fashion – I just started at the end of last year. I’ve never made a garment before, nothing like that.
When I started, I never thought I’d do as good as I did. I just thought I’ll go, I’ll learn some new skills, and that would be it. But the fact I’ve got to the end, I’m at London Fashion Week now with all these big people.”
