“I think the most challenging issue that young Londoners like me are facing is that our voices aren’t being heard enough on the climate and the ecological crisis that we’re facing, which isn’t only affecting London or the UK it’s affecting every single one of us on the planet.
The fashion industry is the second biggest polluter on the planet and with all the waste being produced by it, I think the production of new clothing should either be stopped completely or largely reduced. Waste clothing should also be upcycled and/or recycled. All the clothes people have thrown away could actually be used to clothe poorer people who can’t necessarily afford to buy new clothing I believe that we as people should be frugal with clothing and more people should start thrifting.
I feel that I need to be present at London Fashion Week because I am part of a global environmental group, we’re trying to push about the effects of climate change. The fashion industry is closely linked in to the global crisis, so I feel there needs to be a presence of that sort
From talking part in Fashion Futures, I have gained confidence in myself, how I talk to people in the industry, how I present my work to the people.”
