2019 Fashion Futures Joint Winner
“It means a lot to have got to the fashion show, because since secondary school wasn’t really for me – now I’ve finally found something that I’m actually good at. I’m just grateful to be here, I’m glad I took the opportunity. It’s been a great experience.
I’d never done any art or anything like that , and I feel I really know how to do a project properly now, thoroughly; it’s very in-depth and that’s what you need. I used to find it hard to come up with a concept, but with FAD, going to the V&A and doing loads of research has just made me learn how to create a concept that has meaning. I’ve also become more confident in using a sewing machine and just trying out new things.
I’m so grateful to be a winner, and when I saw my Mum’s face when I walked down the catwalk it just meant everything to me, I can’t put words on it. It’s priceless really.
I just keep pushing from here. Keep working hard, keep my head down and then see where we go from there!”
