“I created different textures with different fabrics – some of the techniques that I explored were shibori, smocking, gathering and pin-tucks. After developing a design I then focused on colour palettes, which I used photoshop and the eye dropper tool. My final garment is a jumpsuit with a pin-tucked bodice and a hexagonal shaped neckline to compliment the hexagonal hem on the bodice. It is embellished with a variety of fabrics in hexagonal shapes each manipulated to create a different texture with shades varying from tangerine to amber with a touch of rouge.
None of this would have been possible without the help from all of the amazing people from FAD. I was presented with an amazing opportunity to enhance my knowledge in everything fashion related and a chance to meet and become friends with people who share my passion. Before, I was confused and stuck on exactly which route I wanted to take career wise but coming out of Fashion Futures, I know exactly what it is I want to do.”
The show was all my hard work coming to life. I have put a lot of effort into what I made, and seeing it on the catwalk it seems unreal. This is an insight into my future, hopefully.
FAD has changed me to work harder, because I know what I want now. It’s motivated me to get what I want.”
