ABOUT FASHION FUTURES

FAD Fashion Futures is an award-winning, industry-focused fashion programme, which offers London teens a hands-on insight into the fashion industry, supported throughout by experienced fashion professionals. The programme fosters key professional skills including research, design, pattern cutting and garment construction, as well as developing participants’ confidence, motivation and creativity. Fashion Futures has been kick-starting creative careers since 2005, and we’re proud that our alumni include designers, pattern cutters, garment techs, buyers and product developers in companies including Tom Ford, Fila, River Island and Karen Millen – as well as acclaimed designer Grace Wales Bonner.   We are especially proud of the many Fashion Futures graduates who return to the workshops to pass on their skills, knowledge and experience to the next generation. You can shop products by talented entrepreneurial Fashion Futures graduates in  FAD Store.

SATURDAY WORKSHOPS

From January to March, 70 London teenagers spend their Saturday mornings with FAD’s specialist tutors and industry mentors, learning the fundamentals of fashion.   Launching with a day of creative research at the V&A, we cover the whole design process – from inspiration and design, through learning about fabrics and understanding your customer – to technical drawing, pattern cutting and constructing a toile. At the end of the course, the young designers present their portfolios to a panel of industry experts, who select the 20 most promising participants to progress to FAD’s Fashion Futures Summer School.

SUMMER SCHOOL

In an intensive week of learning and creativity, the Fashion Futures Finalists revise, finalise and construct their designs, ready for the London Fashion Week final in September. Hosted by Fashion UEL.
